The Selah Pause Kit · $17
Your Bible Isn't the Problem. The Scroll Reflex Is.
Meet the Selah Pause Method. Build a daily Scripture rhythm in one sitting.
For believers who read a whole chapter and can't remember a single line of it. No year-long plan to fall behind on. No 5 a.m. willpower. No streak to lose. Just read, write, pause, and pray. Your first three Selah Pauses will be written in your own hand within 72 hours.
Checkout step 1 is your account, step 2 is payment.

You opened your phone to read Scripture. A notification pulled you away before the first verse settled.
Or you do read the chapter. Maybe two.
You close it. By the time you've poured your coffee, you couldn't tell anyone what it said.
So you try again tomorrow. Or next week. Or "when things calm down."
If that's you, I want to tell you something before anything else: this isn't a love problem. You love God's Word. You wouldn't still be trying if you didn't.
It's a speed problem. And it has a name.
It usually goes like this.
Day 1
Day 1, you're in. New plan, new notebook, maybe a new pen.
Day 4
Day 4, you're reading faster than you're noticing.
Day 9
Day 9, you miss a morning. Then two. The plan says you're "behind."
Day 14
Day 14, missing a day has made it easier to avoid the next one.
And quietly, you start to wonder if something's wrong with you. Maybe other people just have a discipline you don't.
Here's what that pattern costs: mornings with the page open and your attention somewhere else. The longer it goes, the harder beginning can feel.
It isn't you. It's the Scroll Reflex.
The Scroll Reflex is the automatic pull to keep checking, swiping, and consuming when you meant to pause with Scripture. Skim, swipe, next. It's how we read everything now. So when we open the Bible, we bring the Scroll Reflex with us.
That's why the usual fixes keep falling short:
The big reading plan.
It measures chapters, not attention. It rewards you for going faster. That is exactly what the Scroll Reflex already wants. And the first missed day turns into "behind."
Trying harder.
Willpower works until Tuesday. You can't out-discipline a reflex; you have to interrupt it.
Reading about the Bible.
Devotionals can be a gift. But it's easy for someone else's thoughts on a verse to replace your own time sitting with it.
Anything that punishes a missed day.
No streak to lose. No shame in beginning again.
None of those fixes slow your eyes down. So none of them beat the Scroll Reflex.
There's an old word scattered through the Psalms: Selah.
No one knows for certain what it meant. Many scholars believe it marked a pause: a place to stop and let what was just said settle before going on.
That's the whole idea.
The fastest way to break the Scroll Reflex isn't reading more. It's reading slower. And the simplest way to read slower is to write the words down, by hand. Your hand can't skim. It has to form every word. By the time you've written a verse, you've stayed with every word.
Then, before you rush on, you stop. You Selah.
The Selah Pause Method is four moves, about three minutes:
Read it once.
One short passage. Not a chapter. A few verses at most.
Write it slowly.
Word by word, in your own hand. No hurrying. This is where the Scroll Reflex loses its grip.
Selah.
Stop. Look back at what you wrote. Circle the one word that stayed with you. Sit with it.
Pray it back.
One or two honest sentences to God, built around that word.
That's it.
And because the Method is built around one passage at a time, not a calendar. There's no such thing as "behind." Missed yesterday? Today's passage is still waiting. You simply come back.
Let the pace of your writing slow the pace of your attention.
The product
The Selah Pause Kit is how you set the Method up in one sitting, today.
It's not a course to watch. It's a kit to do. Daily study in the app is free. The kit exists to start the practice away from the phone, in your own hand. You'll sit down with it once (about an hour, coffee optional), and when you get up, you'll have:
Your first Selah Pause, already written: within your first half hour, on this passage:
But he answered, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'"Matthew 4:4 (WEB)
Your Rhythm Map: a Monday-to-Sunday week grid where you mark the mornings, middays, and evenings that fit your Pause, plus a line for where you keep your kit and pen. A map, not a schedule.
Your Come-Back Card: the exact thing you'll do the morning after a missed day, decided now, so you already know what to do the morning after a missed day.
Your 30-day path: how you'll choose your next 30 passages.
Then you take two more Pauses over the next two days. Three days, three handwritten Pauses. You'll know, yes or no, whether your Rhythm Map and three Pauses are on paper.
About the passages: every passage in the kit is from the World English Bible, word for word. It is the same translation used throughout SelahScribe™.
Hi, I'm Sarah.
I built SelahScribe™: Your Scripture Writing Companion.
Years ago, my husband Chris and I started building small triggers into our days: deliberate reminders to turn our focus back to God, starting with the first thought of the morning. We'd learned that the first thought tends to set the direction. Then one morning I caught my actual first thought, exactly as it arrived: Can someone please start the coffee pot?
I tell you that because SelahScribe™ was built by someone who knows the gap from the inside. Wanting more of Scripture and finding a steady rhythm are not the same thing. Busy days can turn a sincere desire into another source of guilt. I wanted a place that opened with one short passage, one writing prompt, and one honest prayer. Not a feed, a streak to protect, or a deadline to meet.
Writing slows us down. It gives a verse room to move from something we scanned to something we noticed. SelahScribe™ is built around that simple practice, with context and reflection tools nearby when you want to go deeper.
The kit is that same quiet seat, on paper, away from the phone, in your own hand.
The core practice will remain useful on the Free plan. Private writing will stay private. SelahScribe™ will point you toward Scripture. It will not try to replace your Bible, your church, trusted pastoral care, or Christian community.
What I can tell you is how I built it, because every choice was on purpose:
There's no streak to lose. I didn't want anyone opening God's Word afraid of a number.
Three minutes means three minutes. The daily study is short by design, so it fits a real morning.
One translation, word for word. SelahScribe™ uses the World English Bible only, so what you write is exactly what's written.
The daily prayer is free forever. That was never going to be something I charged for.
What's true today (usable now):
- SelahScribe™ is live on Google Play, and works on the web for iPhone users.
- More than 200 people have opened a SelahScribe™ account.
Here's exactly what happens:

Here's where this goes from here.
One future
You close this page, and next month looks like last month. The Bible was opened with good intentions, read too fast, and closed too soon.
The other
An hour from now, you've written your first Selah Pause in your own hand. You've marked the moments in your week when you'll meet God, and decided what you'll do if you miss. Three days from now, you have three pages. You're not someone who's trying to get into the Word anymore. You're someone who pauses in it.
"Be still, and know that I am God."Psalm 46:10 (WEB)
